HOPE FROM HOME Weekly Spotlight | Crystal Lake Campus

We are offering focused opportunities for our CL Harvest Family to bless people in our community.  We hope that you will take advantage to uplift other and be blessed as a disciple of Hope/encouragement. We will post a new opportunity each Tuesday afternoon.

Here’s Spotlight #3:

This week’s Hope from Home focus is our Harvest CL Food Pantry.  We have an opportunity for you to contribute to our Parking Lot Food Drive. Barb Spahr and Sherry Bennett oversee this ministry and we are so thankful for them.

Harvest typically holds an all-campus food drive in April, and donations are key to keeping the food pantry going. The availability of food staples from the food bank is variable right now, so our pantry needs shoppers who will purchase the pantry’s most needed items that the food bank doesn’t have.  For those who prefer not to shop, donations can be made to NIFB (see note below).

Parking Lot Food Drive INFO
WHEN: Saturday, April 25 from 12-2 PM
WHERE: Church Parking Lot
HOW: Please place the items in your trunk. We will grab them when you arrive.
HELP: Need 10 volunteers to help collect. Please call Sherry Bennett at 815-575-6659 if you are available to help with this.

Shoppers should focus on buying more, smaller items to bless more families. Shop at Dollar Tree (especially for non-food items) or Aldi or Walmart to stretch your dollars.

BIGGEST NEEDS:

TOP FIVE FOOD NEEDS

  • Canned corn and canned green beans
  • Diced tomatoes or tomato sauce
  • Cans or small jars of spaghetti sauce
  • Dry pasta or rice or potato mixes like Hamburger Helper or rice pilaf
  • Crackers, all types, smaller boxes

TOP FIVE NON-FOOD NEEDS

  • Kleenex
  • Hand soap pumps
  • Bar soap
  • Shampoo
  • Dish soap
  • Toothpaste, small tubes

TOP FIVE ADDITIONAL FOOD NEEDS

  • Canned tuna and canned chicken
  • 1 lb bags of white rice
  • 1 lb packages of pasta
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Canned stew or chili

OTHER WAYS TO HELP:

  • Write a check made out to NIFB and mail to:
    Barb Spahr
    1352 Mulberry Lane
    Cary, IL 60013.
  • Donate online to NIFB at www.solvehungertoday.org
(Put #1483B in the comments section so that it gets credited to our HBC account.)

Our food pantry continues to operate (with extra safety precautions for everyone’s good health), providing food, prayer, and hope to those who walk through our doors during open food pantry on Saturday mornings from 9:00 – 11:00AM. The need for all three is greater than ever before during these difficult times.

Thank you for blessing our food pantry ministry and helping us reach out into our community with the love of Christ. If you would like to consider volunteering with the pantry during this time of extra need, there are roles that involve interacting with people and ways to serve on your own or with your small group. Contact Sherry Bennett at 815-575-6659.

Lastly, let’s take this opportunity to pray for those who have been impacted financially.  Pray they would see the Lord provide in tangible ways. If your family is in need, please reach out to a staff member.

You are Loved,

Pastor Mike and the entire Crystal Lake Staff

Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from Him.  Psalm 62:5
