Last fall (October 23, 2018, all-church email), it was reported that evidence of financial misconduct had been discovered in relation to our former CIO. An attorney and forensic accountant were secured to conduct an internal investigation, and a preliminary report was filed with the Elgin Police Department.
Currently, the Elgin Police continue their ongoing investigation into the reported fraud case. Harvest has provided all requested information to the Elgin Police and regular communication is maintained with them. Once the Elgin Police Department has concluded their part of the investigation, the next steps will be determined and further details will be released.
We would also like to provide a brief update concerning the detailed financial review surrounding the former Senior Pastor’s Office. A preliminary legal evaluation of leadership practices has been initiated and the scope of the financial review has been defined, which includes an intense examination into several years of Harvest’s financial documents and any associated information. At this time, the review is ongoing and the church will be updated with this information after the investigation is completed and a formal report is presented to the Elder Board.
Thank you for your continued prayers and patience as we look forward to the conclusion of these investigations.
