As of April 30, 2019, with the two weeks of congregational feedback being completed, we have been installed as the new board for Harvest Bible Chapel. Also, effective tonight, all the current elders have officially resigned from the board. We have each been prayerfully seeking the Lord throughout this process. We are honored to serve Jesus and honored to serve you, as we see God’s hand at work at Harvest Bible Chapel.
We want to express to you, our church family, that we are truly humbled to be in this role as elders. On Tuesday, April 23, we had a chance to meet each other for the first time. There was a sweet time of praying for each other and our church. We sense our inability to do this without the power and direction of God, and we are encouraged that this is not about any of us (1 Corinthians 3:21-23), but about what Jesus wants to do in His church. We also discussed the essential need for prayer, supplication, and equipping by the Lord to function as a team of elders that He will use to lead us through this season. We are firmly committed to the ministry entrusted to us by Jesus Christ, to be shepherds of God’s flock (1 Peter 5:1-5) and to glorify God through the fulfillment of the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20).
We know there are many challenges in front of us as a church, but we know the Lord is able to lead Harvest Bible Chapel through our gifts and through our weaknesses (2 Corinthians 12:9-10). We ask for your grace and understanding as we dig into the challenges alongside our pastors and staff as we chart a new path forward. We have much learning to do as a brand new board, but we will be providing updates to our church family as often as possible.
Lastly, we want you to know that we are in this together as the body of Christ. Through the last two weeks, we know we have been surrounded in prayer, and we will need your continued prayer and help as we focus on moving forward and accepting what the Lord Jesus Christ has for our future.
All for Christ’s glory,
The New Elders of Harvest Bible Chapel
