Dear Harvest Family,
It has become even clearer than ever to us that communicating with our Church family is one of the most beneficial things we can do to serve you. We not only desire to communicate when something is finalized but also the progress that is being made on many of the topics we are all interested in knowing. This is one of three emails you can expect to receive this week. Because of this, being on our church email list is vitally important. If you know of anyone in our church that is not receiving these emails, please direct them to harvestbiblechapel.org/email to sign up for our email list.
Additionally, we are committed to answering the questions of our church in a timelier manner. Moving forward, any email sent to the Church Leadership Team will receive a reply within 6 days. We will either directly answer that question or help you find the answer you are looking for. You can contact us at [email protected].
We have been working on an update for you about our Closer Campaign and we will be updating you this weekend on the details of how we are moving forward.
In regards to the new Elder board selection, the Selection Committee will meet Tuesday, April 16 to begin selecting the 9 names to present to the church. There will then be a two-week period of prayer and consideration for those nominated. We are now entering into the final three steps of the process (Click here for more details.). Lord willing, the 9 names will be presented to the church before the end of April.
Our Elders are charged with overseeing the doctrine, discipline, and direction of the church. This means our new elder board will be commissioned to preserve our theological positions, oversee any church discipline situations, and decide on major directional decisions (i.e. the acquisition or sale of property, etc.). Our current interim Elder board has already committed that any substantive structural changes to our church will only be considered by the new Elder board.
We are excited to have Pastor Chip Ingram from Venture Christian Church in Los Gatos, California, in our pulpit at Easter this year. Good Friday is going to be a great moment of reflection on the sacrifice of Christ. We look forward to a full week of remembering and worshipping the Lord together.
There will be more updates coming in the next few days. We are trusting the Lord with every step.
The Church Leadership Team
