Dear Harvest Family,
We want to express how grateful we are to be serving the Lord here at Harvest in this new season of our church. Our team has been working together now for two weeks. We all share a commitment to prayer and God’s Word being at the center of our meetings and decision-making. Leading our church is our great privilege, but we all feel the weight of responsibility. This is why we are relying on the Lord for every step. In our aim for an immediate and continual shift in our culture, we want this update to serve you in a way that is both healthy and helpful.
In the past two weeks, we have focused our attention on the immediate needs of our ministry. With all the staff transitions in recent weeks, it is our responsibility to ensure the ministry continues. This involves raising up staff to fill some of these vacant roles as well as distributing responsibilities to various people. In the midst of these transitions, we have adjusted our weekly budget (as mentioned in the FAQ) to live within the Lord’s financial provision for our ministries. These were very difficult decisions, but we have seen God’s grace in the decision-making process and are so thankful for how God gave our whole staff the strength and comfort we needed these past days.
We have also taken leadership on the ministries of HBC and are working to provide clarity on how we are moving forward. The Act Like Men “Palooza Unplugged” event is now open for registration for June 7–9. The Much More Experience is also moving forward and in the planning phase for an event on August 3. Our Counseling Ministry continues to focus on training and equipping local campus counseling teams and further empowering them to minister to the needs of their local body.
Good Friday and Easter planning are well underway and service times will be announced on March 30–31. Vertical Worship continues to write songs that you will soon start hearing in our weekend services and plans to record their next album in the coming months. Our Student Summer Camps and High Five are now open for registration. Harvest Christian Academy has had strong re-enrollment for the 2019–2020 school year and is positioned for another great year.
We want to thank the Harvest 2020 Team for all the work they have done these past weeks. We are encouraged by all they accomplished in a short period of time and we are excited to lead the church forward in a healthy and new day. You can watch the latest Harvest 2020 Update here.
In regard to the financial review process, given that our previously-selected accounting firm, Plante Moran, recently declined to conduct the financial review (see their statement here), we commissioned our in-house counsel to work with a law firm to secure a new accounting firm that will conduct the independent financial review. We will update you once the new firm is secured.
We are also encouraged by our Elders inviting our Campus Pastors to their meetings in order to have the voice of our congregation more present in those meetings. And we are thankful our Elders are prioritizing the selection of new Elders in order to offer our church a season of new leadership. You can read an important update from the Elders here.
In this new season of pressing in together toward greater health and advancing the mission of the church, we need your prayers and rejoice in the faithfulness of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
