Our Church

Harvest Bible Chapel is one church on multiple campuses with one purpose: bring glory to God. Our story is still being written, as God continues to change lives by His Spirit through the ministries and people of our church.

News and events of all campuses are displayed on our homepage and on ministry pages. To filter these on all pages to a specific campus, click the gold "Choose a Campus" button at the top of any page and select that location.

Our Services

We're seeking to lead people further into a life-altering relationship with the living God—and our worship services reflect that. The authority of God's Word is preached without apology and His Son is exalted with gratitude and adoration.

Senior Pastor James MacDonald regularly preaches from the Rolling Meadows Campus and the Elgin Campus. Weekend services on campuses where preaching is not live include Christ-exalting worship and the message delivered through simulcast.

When Pastor James is out of the pulpit, preaching is supplied by our Campus Pastors and, occasionally, guest preachers. Sermons are captured on audio and video, and available in the lobby following each service.

Children's Ministry for boys and girls from birth through fifth grade is provided on all campuses.

Our History

In 1988, a group of eighteen people from across the northwest suburbs gathered to form a new church. They had a vision for proclaiming the authority of the Word of God without apology, lifting high the name of Jesus through worship, believing firmly in the power of prayer, and sharing the good news of Jesus with boldness. Harvest Bible Chapel was born on September 18, 1988 with James MacDonald serving as the Senior Pastor.

Since that time the Lord has worked amazing things in our midst for His glory. We are presently ministering on multiple Chicagoland campuses and have many church plants around the world.

Our Mission

The mission of Harvest Bible Chapel is to glorify God through the fulfillment of the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20).

Our obedience to this mission is the foundation of every Harvest ministry. From worship services to Children's Ministry to Student and Adult Ministries, our chief aim is to make authentic disciples of Christ who follow His ways in their Worship, their Walk, and their Work

Our Discipleship

A saving relationship with God begins by drawing near to Him in repentance, and receiving the forgiveness and salvation found only in Jesus Christ. But it doesn't stop there—the path of authentic discipleship requires a lifetime of following.

At Harvest we long to see believers at every stage of maturity continue "work out [their] salvation" in the context of daily life (Philippians 2:12), to grow and thrive in relationship with the Lord and each other—and to be used by Him beyond the walls of our church. We call this worshiping, walking and working for Christ. And we try to make the next steps of discipleship easy to find.
  • If you're new to Harvest, start with the next Step 1 on your campus.
  • Check out Step 2 and the other opportunities below.
  • Walk through our Ministries and take a look at our Calendar.
  • Join a small group—there are all kinds of opportunities and locations.
Everyone who calls Harvest their church home is strongly encouraged to take part in a small group where the Scriptures are opened, lives are shared and prayer is upheld. Small group ministry even takes place with our students and children. Nearly every type and demographic is available, and new groups are continually forming.

Just remember, no matter where you are in your Christian walk, you don't need to take that next step alone. Your church family is here to come alongside—and an army of disciples are ready for you to grow along with them.
